The first ideas and drawings for what would become To The Point Design Studio started in the Fall of 1988, although the company was not formally started for another 10 years. Lisa drew her first major pointillism drawing right after college. It took a year and a half of working on and off to complete. It is almost 2 1/2 feet tall and has over 30 birds on it - from Seagulls to Hornbills to Cockatoos - all stippled with black dots. The business part came to be when Lisa was drawing a cat to give as a gift for a friend. Someone asked if there were other drawings for sale and the business was born. Pointillism is a technique that takes a long, long, long time to finish each piece so it was important to find a way to make each product affordable. After a lot of
hard work, drawing, trying new products as well as different ways of selling...and lots of trial and
error, the business grew to what it is today. Mark has been the backbone of the business from the start and a fantastic source of support. Lisa & Mark live in
Northern California with their son, Sean, Goffins Cockatoo, Rocky, and their Cockatiel,
Tiele.
